A 15-year-old boy has died nearly two weeks after a multi-vehicle crash in Glastonbury, Conn., officials said Wednesday.
Dillon Dupuis was one of two people seriously injured after three vehicles collided on Hebron Avenue on the evening of Oct. 24, the Glastonbury Police Department said.
Following the crash, the Glastonbury High School sophomore was extricated from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital with “serious, life-threatening injuries,” Lt. Kevin Szydlo of the Glastonbury Police Department said.
Dupuis, described as “an amazing musician who often [spent] time with his friends laughing and joking,” was hospitalized in critical condition, his family said in an online fundraiser set up to help cover medical expenses while he could focus on healing.
“He’s kind, determined, and full of life,” the family said.
On Wednesday, 12 days after the crash, Principal Nancy Bean said in a letter to the community that the “cherished member of the GHS community” had died from his injuries.
“His warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew him,” the letter, obtained by the Hartford Courant, read in part.. “Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family and friends as they navigate this tremendous loss.”
According to a preliminary investigation, the crash occurred when a westbound vehicle on Hebron Avenue lost control, hit an oncoming eastbound car, and was then struck by a second eastbound vehicle, police said.
Glastonbury Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the area of 3066 Hebron Avenue just before 9 pm. on Oct. 24.
Authorities did not release details about the other person seriously injured in the crash, who local media described as the 17-year-old driver.
