NYPD releases new images in hunt for raging Manhattan mugger who beat elderly couple, ripped off own shirt

Police on Saturday released new images of a man wanted for beating an elderly couple bloody during a harrowing attempted robbery in Hell’s Kitchen, police said.

The scruffy robbery suspect attacked the 75-year-old man and 70-year-old woman, then tore off his shirt in a fit of rage during the clash on W. 44th St. near Ninth Ave. on Nov. 9.

The victims were strolling down W. 44th St. at about 10:30 p.m. when the mugger stormed up and grabbed the woman’s purse.

He tried to yank the bag off the woman’s arm, throwing her to the ground, cops said. He then turned to the woman’s boyfriend.

“Give me your wallet!” he screamed as he fought with his 75-year-old victim.

The robbery suspect ripped off his shirt in a fit of rage as he continued to beat the older man, leaving him with serious injuries to his face and eye. The woman suffered injuries to her elbow and neck.

After attacking both victims, the suspect ran off empty-handed, cops said.

Police scouring the area recovered surveillance images of the bare-chested brigand running down Tenth Ave.

Police released surveillance imagery of a shirtless man who they said beat a 75-year-old man and his girlfriend on the West Side in an attempted mugging. (NYPD)

Both victims were treated at Mount Sinai West and are recovering.

No arrests have been made.

Police hope the clearer images they discovered will help them identify the mugger.

Anyone with information about the mugger’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
