Christy Martin reacts to Ruby Rose’s ‘attack’ on Sydney Sweeney over biopic

Christy Martin is going to battle for Sydney Sweeney.

The former pro boxer, 57, showed support for Sweeney, 28, after Ruby Rose blamed the fellow actress for the “Christy” biopic bombing at the box office.

“I’ve always been a fighter. My life reflected that in every way and now I fight for others,” Martin wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of herself and Sweeney, who plays the legendary athlete in the new film.

“The past few days I have seen some people attack my friend Sydney Sweeney,” Martin continued. “Syd not only worked her ass off for this film, she worked her ass off for me. For my story. For so many others suffering in silence.”

Martin concluded, “So I want to be clear about who Syd is. She is my friend and ally!”

“Christy” flamed out at the box office in its opening weekend, grossing only $1.3 million across more than 2,000 screens.

Sweeney defended the film in an Instagram post a few days after its Nov. 7 release, telling fans that she’s “so deeply proud” of the project.

“We don’t always make art for numbers, we make it for impact. and christy has been the most impactful project of my life,” she said.

But Rose — who claimed she was in the running to play a character named Cherry in “Christy” — torched Sweeney in a Threads post on Tuesday, blaming the “Euphoria” star for the movie’s failure.

“For her PR to talk about it flopping and saying SS did it for the ‘people’. None of ‘the people’ want to see someone… parading around pretending to be us,” Rose wrote.

“You’re a cretin and you ruined the film. Period,” the “Orange Is the New Black” alum added about Sweeney. “Christy deserved better.”

Sweeney has had multiple flops on the big screen this year.

Her crime comedy “Americana” grossed less than $500,000 off a $9 million budget. And Ron Howard’s $35-million “Eden” did just $2.5 million in business.

Sweeney has been at the center of controversy over her American Eagles jeans ad, too. Many criticized the ad for its play on words, which used “jeans” instead of “genes” when referring to the blond-haired, blue-eyed Sweeney.

In a recent interview with GQ, Sweeney said that she ignored the backlash because she was busy working. She also called it “surreal” that President Donald Trump weighed in on the ad.

When asked if she wanted to comment on the matter more, Sweeney didn’t feed into the nonsense. Instead, she played it cool and replied: “I think that when I have an issue that I want to speak about, people will hear.”

“Christy” is in theaters now.
