Jets WR Garrett Wilson placed on IR with knee injury

The Jets will be without their star receiver for the foreseeable future.

Garrett Wilson landed on injured reserve Thursday, meaning he will miss at least the next four games.

Wilson injured his right knee during Sunday’s win against the Browns. It is the same knee he injured during the Jets loss to the Broncos in London that caused him to miss two games. He will be eligible to return in Week 15 against the Jaguars. However, considering the Jets record (2-7), the team could elect to shut him down for the season.

The Jets placed Wilson on injured reserve just two days after Aaron Glenn was combative with reporters regarding Wilson’s injury status.

On Tuesday, Glenn refused to give an update on Wilson after ESPN reported that he would miss the next three to four weeks. Instead of giving his usual injury update at the beginning of the press conference, Glenn instead told reporters, “I’m going to pass on talking about injuries,” and instead told the media to ask the reporter who broke the news.

Glenn didn’t deny the story, but instead told the media to ask the ESPN reporter who broke the story.

“You guys have been hearing it from me, but now since we’re just reporting stuff that I haven’t said then maybe you should ask him,” Glenn said.

The Jets offense will miss Wilson’s production. He currently leads the team in receptions (36), yards (395) and receiving touchdowns (four). Gang Green’s other top receiver, Josh Reynolds (hip), is also on injured reserve.

Outside of Wilson and Reynolds, the Jets other receivers are Allen Lazard, Tyler Johnson, Isaiah Williams and Arian Smith. Adonai Mitchell was also recently acquired in the trade that sent Sauce Gardner to the Colts. John Metchie III is also on the roster after the Jets obtained him after trading Michael Carter III to the Eagles.
