Something about this one just feels different.
David Arquette is headed back to Woodsboro alongside his fellow “Scream” OG’s Neve Campbell, Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley for “Scream 7.”
30 years after the original slasher hit theaters in 1996, the actor, 54, teased what it was like to return with so many familiar faces.
“Just to work with Kevin Williamson as a director is so incredible,” Arquette exclusively told The Post while promoting his new film “Perfect Gamble.”
“I am so happy to be back as part of the ‘Scream’ family.”
For now, the star is keeping tight-lipped about his role in the movie, after his character Deputy Dewey Riley died in 2022’s “Scream.”
But he did praise the franchise creator, Williamson, 60, who directed for the first time following the death of original director Wes Craven in 2015.
“He’s just tremendous. He knows this world like nobody else so it will be so exciting to see what he does with it,” Arquette noted.
The next installment, which is set to slash theaters in February, follows a new Ghostface killer as they reunite with Sidney Prescott (Campbell) in the town where she’s created a new life for herself.
“Her darkest fears are realized as her daughter becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all,” per the synopsis.
Along with Arquette, Foley has also signed on — despite his Roman Bridger being killed off.
“Scream 7” also stars Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) and Joel McHale, who will play Sidney’s husband, police officer Mark.
“Oh, it’s been awesome [to return],” Williamson told The Post in June. “I’ve always been on the fringes of the last few ‘Scream’ movies, as sort of the granddaddy of the franchise.”
Along with the cult classic horror film, Arquette has dipped his toe into the action thriller world.
In the “Perfect Gamble,” the “Outsiders” vet plays Charlie, a man fresh out of prison who gets caught up with the mafia after opening up an illegal casino.
“I love the character for sure. It’s not the typical thing people would expect from me,” he told The Post. “But I knew Danny [Abeckaser] was directing it and going to play Felix. And we’ve known each other for so long, and I knew that character, relationship and dynamic would be so incredible. And then when we found out Daniella [Pick] was doing it, and it was just the third piece that came together to make it so great.”
Behind the scenes, Arquette is a family man.
The “Airheads” actor tied the knot with Christina McLarty in 2015 and the couple share sons Charlie West, 8, and Augustus Alexis, 5.
Arquette was previously married to Cox, 61. The exes share daughter Coco, 21.
For the Hollywood heartthrob, Arquette tends to keep work and personal separate.
“My family doesn’t visit me that often on set,” he admitted. “It becomes a little difficult to juggle. I’m doing a film now and just the amount of dialog I have to try to remember. And if I was getting pulled in different directions during a filming day, it could be difficult.”
“So, I love when people visit. I’m a people pleaser though, so if people show up, I would want to take care of them and this and that, and I wouldn’t be able to focus on what I have to do. I have to learn lines, I have to learn – especially if they’re big speeches and stuff.”
But between work and family life, Arquette still finds time to pursue some passion projects.
“Bozo the Clown,” he stated. “I brought the rights to Bozo the Clown and that has been an extreme, intense, gamble and a learning process. Becoming a clown.”
Bozo is best known as “The World’s Most Famous Clown” and was created in the ’40s.
“I loved Bozo the Clown as a kid,” Arquette explained, “and I love clowns in general, and I thought they were getting a bad rap, just being sort of seen as scary clowns. So I wanted to help sort of shine a light and bring the happy clown back and be part of it.”
The Perfect Gamble hits Apple TV+ and Prime Video on Friday, Nov. 14.
