Burglars broke into the home of Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders while Sanders made his NFL debut on Sunday afternoon, according to multiple reports.
Sanders, a fifth-round pick and the son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, played in his first game Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens after starter Dillon Gabriel was injured.
During the game, unknown parties smashed their way into Sanders’ home in suburban Cleveland, just a few miles away from the Browns game at Huntington Bank Field.
It was unclear Tuesday what, if anything, had been lifted from Sanders’ home. Police did not issue an official statement on any break-in, which was instead reported by several outlets. No suspects have been identified.
Sanders joins a growing list of professional athletes whose homes have been burglarized during games. Last NFL season, burglars broke into the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and New Orleans Saints standout defender Cameron Jordan.
Following a high-profile college career where he was coached by his father, Sanders fell to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft before the Browns finally selected him with the 144th pick. He took zero snaps in the Browns’ first nine games but entered on Sunday after Gabriel suffered a concussion. With Gabriel’s status uncertain for this week, Sanders could make his first pro start.
