Royal faux pas.
Queen Camilla raised eyebrows when she asked a Welsh actress if she’d lost weight while visiting South Wales with King Charles last week.
The incident unfolded as the royal couple toured Cyfarthfa Castle as part of the monarch’s 77th birthday celebrations on Nov. 14.
“Haven’t you lost masses of weight?” Camilla, 78, asked “Gavin & Stacey” star Ruth Jones during the awkward moment, per a clip of the exchange obtained by a Daily Mail reporter and shared to X.
“Yes, I have, thank you!” Jones, 59, responded with a laugh. “I’ve lost a bit of weight!”
Jones, who co-wrote and co-starred in the UK hit “Gavin & Stacey” with James Corden from 2007 to 2010, first made headlines for her impressive weight loss when she shed nearly 60 lb. back in 2011.
She later opened up about her process in a joint interview with Corden on Jessie and Lennie Ware’s “Table Manners” podcast last year.
Jones revealed that celebrity hypnotist Paul McKenna helped her give up chocolate by using “aversion therapy,” which involved her thinking about the sweet before alternating and thinking about mushy peas until the two became linked.
“I hate the word ‘struggled’ with my weight, but I have been in a battle with my weight all of my life, as long as I can remember,” the Welsh actress and comedian said. “I can’t ever remember being slim.”
“Anyway, it worked. It completely worked,” she added regarding the treatment. “I didn’t eat chocolate for five years. I couldn’t stand the smell of it.”
Jones, meanwhile, made headlines again more recently when the 2024 “Gavin & Stacey” Christmas special scored her the 2025 BAFTA Award for Best Female Comedy Performance.
