Miss Universe officials say Miss Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry, is doing well and close to being released from a hospital in Thailand following a dramatical fall during last week’s 2026 Miss Universe pageant in Bangkok.
“Today, we are pleased to share that the latest medical report confirms that Dr. Gabrielle Henry is in good health and nearing discharge,” Miss Universe Organization President Raul Rocha said in a statement released Monday.
Careful not to divulge specifics about Henry’s medical treatment specifically, Rocha said the organization “will continue to communicate only essential information with professionalism, sensitivity, and respect.”
Rocha assured pageant supporters that Henry was responded to immediately after she fell Wednesday, and that her medical expenses were being handled by Miss Universe organizers.
The 28-year-old beauty queen was crossing the stage in an orange evening dress and high heels when she stepped off am elevated surface and plunged to the ground. Video on social media showed her being wheeled away on a stretcher.
Henry’s family said Friday that the pageant contestant wasn’t “doing as well” as they’d hoped while being treated in an intensive care unit overseas. The extent of her injuries has been unclear. Rocha said last week that she’s suffered no broken bones.
Henry’s sister, Dr. Phylicia Henry-Samuels, is in Thailand monitoring her sibling’s treatment.
