New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd, who was left critically wounded in a shooting earlier this month after he and his friends were taunted over their stylish clothes outside a popular Midtown restaurant, was back in the hospital over the Thanksgiving holiday, the football star announced on Instagram.
Boyd, 29, said in an Instagram story posted Thursday that he had previously been released from the hospital following the Nov. 16 shooting, but was brought back over “my health issues.”
“I love and appreciate everyone and y’all dearly who has prayed/reached out even if I can’t get back to you!” he wrote in his message. “Head HIGH, God is not through with me yet!”
He did not elaborate on his current medical woes. Following the shooting,
Boyd had remained hospitalized for at least four days following the shooting during a chaotic brawl 2 a.m. outside Sei Less on W. 38th St. near Seventh Ave., police said.

The fight was sparked when a group outside the popular eatery “chirped” the NFL player and his companions about their stylish clothes, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said at a press briefing.
Boyd, teammates Irvin Charles and Jamien Sherwood and a friend from Boyd’s native Texas pulled up to the Asian-fusion “speakeasy” and celeb hotspot in a Cadillac Escalade, Kenny said. As they entered the restaurant, a group of four to five men standing outside “begin to ‘chirp’ them about the clothing that they’re wearing, and are asking them, ‘What, do you think you’re better than us?’” Kenny said.
Boyd had intended to celebrate his friend’s birthday, but he and his entourage left about 10 minutes later after deciding they didn’t like the “vibe,” Kenny said.
As they left, the same group, who had dined at Sei Less earlier that evening again began to “verbally insult them, and once again, questioning their clothing,” Kenny said.
The taunts sparked an argument that quickly escalated into an all-out brawl, during which one of the fighters pulled a gun and fired off two rounds.
One of the bullets hit Boyd, officials said. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital with critical injuries, but was on the mend. It was not immediately disclosed when he was first discharged from the hospital.

After the shooting, the gunman was last seen running east on W. 38th St. carrying a black bookbag before turning on Broadway toward W. 36th St.
Cops released surveillance footage of the suspected gunman following the shooting and asked the public’s help identifying him and tracking him down.
Cops have identified a person of interest in the shooting based off a Crime Stoppers tip, but no arrests have been made as investigators continue to work the case, officials said.
Detectives are also looking for two luxury vehicles seen speeding off after the shooting, a blue BMW X6 with New York plates and a silver Mercedes-Benz GLS with Michigan plates.
Police recovered a $185,000 watch at the scene, but no one from either group has come forward to claim it, Kenny said.
During a previous Instagram story on Nov. 19, Boyd said he was on the mend and breathing on his own.
“God is real. God is powerful. I’m sorry I have no words at the moment… just grateful,” Boyd posted along with a picture of him smiling in a hospital bed.

Boyd joined the Jets this year after signing a $1.6 million one-year contract but never took the field after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury.
The Texas native has spoken out against gun violence and was moved to tears following the elementary school mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas three years ago. He created a GoFundMe that raised more than $30,000 to honor the 19 children and two teachers killed by an 18-year-old gunman.
Anyone with information about the shooter is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
