Platinum-selling rapper Toosii is taking time away from music to play college football, despite being 25 years old.
Toosii announced his commitment to Syracuse University on social media Monday.
“For every kid who ever had a dream, make it reality,” he wrote on X alongside photos of himself in a No. 2 Syracuse Orange uniform.
Toosii was born Nau’Jour Grainger and grew up in Syracuse before moving with his family moved to Raleigh, N.C., where he played receiver in high school.
He reportedly began exploring his return to football this summer and thanked God for his homecoming opportunity.
“To be born in Syracuse and move to North Carolina at age 12 and haven’t been back since,” he wrote. “When Coach Fran [Brown] called, I knew it was a sign from God. So with that being said, Cuse I’m coming home.”
Syracuse’s football team ranks dead last in the Atlantic Coast Conference where they’ve lost eight games in a row, including a recent 70-7 drubbing by Notre Dame.
Toosii said in a 2021 video posted by hip-hop publication XXL that a football teammate from his youth gave him his nickname, which he spells with two i’s because “you need two eyes to see the vision.”
It’s not clear where the “Favorite Song” rapper will line up at Syracuse or if he’s been offered a scholarship.
