Here’s who U.S. will face in Group D

The road to World Cup glory starts here.

The U.S. men’s national team will be joined in Group D by Paraguay, Australia and a yet-to-be-determined fourth team, FIFA revealed Friday during a star-studded final draw ceremony at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

The final spot in Group D will go to the last team standing between Turkey, Romania, Slovakia and Kosovo, who will compete in the UEFA Playoffs in March.

Next year’s World Cup, which the U.S. is co-hosting with Canada and Mexico, will be the first to include 48 teams, as the global soccer tournament is expanding from 32.

The USMNT, the world’s 14th-ranked team, is set to begin its World Cup run against Paraguay on June 12 at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium. Paraguay is the world’s 39th-ranked team.

This is the second time the U.S. is hosting to the World Cup, having previously done so in 1994.

Developing story. Please check back for updates.
