Worker dies in four-story fall at Queens construction site

A worker fell four stories to his death from a Queens construction site, cops and Department of Buildings officials said Tuesday.

The hard hat, a 42-year-old man, fell from 37-28 Crescent St. near 37th Ave. in Dutch Kills around 6 p.m. Monday, police and DOB spokesmen said.

The worker had ventured beyond the orange safety netting onto the formwork of an unfinished balcony when the structure gave way beneath his feet and he plummeted 30 feet to the ground, a Buildings spokesman said.

Medics rushed the unconscious victim to NY Presbyterian – Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he died, cops said.

A DOB investigation found that the formwork that collapsed was not adequately braced and issued a full stop-work order to the building, a Buildings spokesman said.

Developers broke ground on the six-story, mixed-use condominium in June, which building permits show is planned to include 39 residential units.

The city’s medical examiner will determine the worker’s cause of death.

His identity is being withheld until his family is notified.
