Two patrolmen were struck by a Mercedes as the driver fled a traffic stop in Brooklyn Tuesday, cops said.
The officers stopped Anas Rao, 20, for running a red light in his grey Mercedes C300 at W. 8th St. near Quentin Road in Gravesend around 4:39 a.m., police said.
The patrolmen exited their vehicle and were approaching Rao’s Mercedes on foot when the suspect’s car suddenly jolted backwards, striking one officer in the leg and the other in his left foot, cops said.
Medics rushed both officers to a local hospital in stable condition.
The suspect fled the scene heading west on Quentin Road, cops said.
Rao, a Flatlands, Brooklyn resident, was arrested later Tuesday. He is charged with assault, vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, possession of forged instruments and obstruction, cops said.
