A 12-year-old boy is facing attempted murder charges after he stabbed another pre-teen in the chest with a kitchen knife during a fight at a Brooklyn playground, officials said Friday.
The victim, who is also 12, was in critical but stable condition at Brookdale University Hospital on Friday.
The two pre-teens got into a fight at the Betsy Head Park playground at Thomas S. Boyland St. and Dumont Ave. in Brownsville at 2:53 p.m. Thursday.
The two had started punching each other when the suspect pulled out a kitchen knife and jammed it into his rival’s chest, witnesses to the bloody attack said.

The kitchen knife, which had a gray handle, was recovered at the scene as well as a purple backpack, a winter coat and some bloody clothes that were found next to the knife.
Betsy Head Park is a short distance from a high school, P.S./I.S. 323 and the Mott Hall Bridges Academy, but it wasn’t clear if the two boys went to either of these schools.
