Search efforts were underway in Alabama on Friday for a a 4-year-old boy who’s been missing since New Year’s Eve.
The boy, Johnathan Everett Boley, was last seen on Wednesday around 11:30 a.m. on the 7000 block of Highway 195, just north of Jasper near the Manchester community, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. He’d been visiting his father, Jameson Boley, who reported him missing around 1 p.m.
Johnathan was wearing “a yellow Mickey Mouse shirt, black pants and Paw Patrol shoes” when he disappeared, authorities said, adding he was with his 6-year-old brother and pet dog at the time.
Johnathan’s brother “identified the last place that he saw” his brother, Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith said at a press conference on Friday. Their dog also remains missing.
Following Johnathan’s disappearance, officers searched his father’s property, where they found explosive devices.
As a result, Jameson Boley was charged with two counts of chemical endangerment of a child and unlawful manufacture of a destructive device or bacteriological weapon. Sheriff Smith emphasized that the charges had “nothing to do” with the search for Johnathan, but “it is still a factor that is hindering our search.” He also said the father previously served in the military.
Anyone with information in the case has been asked to contact the Walker County Sheriff’s Department.
