A New Jersey man was sentenced Wednesday to 14 years in prison for sharing child sex abuse material on the dark web, authorities said.
Declan Golden, a 39-year-old Middletown man, pleaded guilty in the case back in May 2025. He copped to a single count of promoting material containing child pornography.
From 2020 to 2023, Golden shared and promoted various files containing child sex abuse material, the Justice Department said in a press release. He shared the material on the Tor network known for illicit transactions, and encouraged others to post similar content, according to the feds.
In other posts, Golden boasted about having secret cameras to record young girls in private settings, such as bathrooms and showers, the feds said. He was not charged with any crimes relating to those claims.
After searching Golden’s electronic devices, investigators found numerous images of child pornography, the Justice Department said. Golden admitted he’d been viewing the images and videos since at least 2014.
Following his 14 years in prison, Golden will be subject to supervised release for 15 years. His case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a Justice Department operation launched in 2006.
