LI man accused of kidnapping Queens girl he met on Discord

A Long Island man is accused of kidnapping an 11-year-old Queens girl after communicating with her on the messaging app Discord, prosecutors said Friday.

Nicholas Wieber, 28, of Bay Shore, allegedly began chatting with the girl on the free mobile app in early December 2025, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said, noting the messages “quickly became sexual in nature.”

Discord is a popular communication platform often used by children and teenagers. It’s described as a “group chat that’s all fun and games [and is] great for playing games and chilling with friends.”

On Dec. 12, the victim went to her school in Queens but wasn’t on the bus when her mother went to pick her up from the bus stop at the end of the day, prosecutors said.

When her mother called the girl’s friends to ask about her whereabouts, she learned her daughter had been picked up from school by an older male. She then contacted the NYPD, which launched a search for the missing child.

On the evening of Dec. 13, NYPD detectives contacted the Suffolk County Police Department after an investigation led authorities to Wieber’s residence in Bay Shore.

Suffolk police then responded to the scene and allegedly found the girl “in a state of undress in Wieber’s bed,” prosecutors said. The child was safely reunited with her family, and Wieber was taken into custody. He was later indicted on kidnapping and related charges.

On Friday, Wieber was arraigned before Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro on charges of first- and second-degree kidnapping, both of which are felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

He’s being held on $500,000 bond and is due back in court on Feb. 17. He faces 25 years to life if convicted on the top count.

His attorney, Larry Flowers, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment Friday afternoon.
