Subway conductor punched in the face by Queens passenger angry over train route

An MTA conductor was punched in the face early Thursday by a Queens passenger angry over the route the train had taken, the Daily News has learned.

The 37-year-old conductor was looking out the window of the A train when the angry rider confronted him about 1:25 a.m., saying, “Thanks for taking me to the wrong stop,” according to a transit source.

The passenger then punched the conductor in the face hard enough that the victim’s head hit the wall of the control cabin.

Medics took the conductor to a local hospital in stable condition.

The attacker has not been caught.

John Chiarello, president of the Transport Workers Union Local 100, which represents subway workers, called the attack “senseless and vicious.”

“Unfortunately these assaults are on the rise again,” he said. “They say overall crime numbers are down, but our members are getting attacked more often.”
