Colin Jost reacts to wife Scarlett Johansson losing title as highest-grossing actor



He’s marveling at this new development. 

During “Saturday Night Live” on Jan. 17, “Weekend Update” host Colin Jost shared the news that Zoe Saldaña has “surpassed Scarlett Johansson to become the highest-grossing actress of all time.”

As Jost, 43, delivered the news, a graphic appeared onscreen of Saldaña and Johansson’s respective earnings. 

“Okay, well let’s see what happens if you include the box office from Scarlett’s husband’s movies,” Jost quipped.

According to The Numbers, Jost has grossed $488,489,123 at the box office. The “SNL” star has appeared in movies such as “The Bad Guys 2” and “Tom & Jerry.”  

Jost tied the knot with Johansson, 41, in 2020. The couple share a son, Cosmo, 4. The “Black Widow” star also has daughter Rose, 11, with ex-husband Romain Dauriac (who she was married to from 2014 to 2017). 

During the “Weekend Update” segment, it showed the “Her” actress’ earnings as they fell from $15.4 billion to $15.1 billion. Jost started laughing onscreen, looking surprised, and exclaimed, “It went down?”

Thanks to the box office from “Avatar: Fire and Ash” along with the first two films in the James Cameron sci-fi epic, Saldaña’s films have earned $16,946,884,15 at the global box office.

Saldaña has appeared in numerous other franchises, including the “Guardians of the Galaxy” Marvel movies, the “Star Trek” films, and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.

In contrast, Johansson’s films – which include the Marvel movies and the “Jurassic World” films – have earned $16,435,483,784 at the global box office. 

On Jan. 13, Saldaña, 47, took to social media to react to the news that she dethroned Johansson

“I just want to express my sincerest gratitude for the extraordinary journey that has led me to become the highest-grossing film actor of all time today,” Saldaña said in an Instagram video.

The Oscar-winning actress added, “An achievement made possible entirely, entirely by the incredible franchises and the collaborators that I have been fortunate enough to be a part of.”
