Between 1 and 3 inches of snow fell across New York City on Sunday, while some suburban areas saw nearly 5 inches.
Inside the five boroughs, the most snow was tallied in Dongan Hills on Staten Island, which saw 3.3 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Only an inch fell in Central Park, while the high of 2.5 inches in Brooklyn was recorded in Flatbush.
The snow fell in two major batches on Sunday, first a lighter dusting in the morning, then in heavier bunches in the late afternoon and into the evening. Unlike the snow that fell Saturday, Sunday’s snow stuck to the ground in below freezing temperatures.
Orange, N.J., saw the highest regional total at 4.5 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Several areas in northern New Jersey recorded at least 3 inches of snow.
Meanwhile in Connecticut, nearly 4 inches of snow fell in and around Bridgeport while the rest of the state received between 1 and 3 inches.

The snow also wreaked havoc on travel in the region over the holiday weekend, with LaGuardia Airport leading the nation in cancellations on Sunday, while John F. Kennedy Airport was second. Between the two airports, more than 300 flights in and out of the city were canceled while nearly 1,000 were delayed, according to flight tracking website FlightAware.
