Usha Vance pregnant with 4th child, due in July, VP announces

Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha shared they are expecting their fourth child in a joyous announcement on social media Tuesday.

“We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy. Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July,” the couple said in a statement in a joint Instagram post.

“During this exciting and hectic time, we are particularly grateful for the military doctors who take excellent care of our family and for the staff members who do so much to ensure that we can serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children.”

The vice president, 41, and Usha, 40, have been married since 2014. They have three other children, Ewan, 8; Vivek, 5 and Mirabel, 3.

Mirabel became something of an Inauguration Day viral sensation for sporting colorful bandages featuring cartoon characters Bluey and Scooby-Doo on her fingers as her mother held her while her father took the oath of office a year ago Tuesday.

And Vivek’s obsession with last year’s viral “six-seven” craze, which bubbled up during a Bible reading while the family was at church, prompted Vance to joke about banning the numbers.

“Yesterday at church the Bible readings started on page 66-67 of the missal, and my 5-year-old went absolutely nuts repeating ‘six seven’ like 10 times,” Vance wrote on X.

“And now I think we need to make this narrow exception to the first amendment and ban these numbers forever,” the VP joked, relating to parents everywhere.

The second couple has dealt with gossip over the state of their marriage since October after the veep warmly embraced late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika.

Then in November and December, the rumor mill ginned up when Usha was photographed without her wedding ring during a pair of events with first lady Melania Trump.

A spokesperson for the second lady explained that as a busy mom, she “does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes.”

Last month, a doctored photo circulated online appearing to show the VP scowling in a white T-shirt, seated in a restaurant booth across from his wife of more than a decade, who was hanging her head with her hand resting on her face.

“I always wear an undershirt when I go out in public to have a fight loudly with my wife,” Vance wrote on X in an expertly delivered dissection of the viral meme.

The VP waved off the internet chatter about the couple’s relationship during an interview with NBC news last month, saying they “kind of get a kick out of it.”

The Vances’ new addition will make history as the first instance of a second couple having a child while in office, though a smattering of first ladies have given birth while their husbands occupied the White House.

Grover and Frances Cleveland had two children during his second term, including the only child of a US president ever born inside the White House, Esther Cleveland, who was born in 1893.

Jackie Kennedy gave birth to Patrick Bouvier Kennedy just three months before JFK was assassinated in 1963, but the child was born six weeks premature and tragically died just two days later.

John F. Kennedy, Jr. was born between his father’s election in November, 1960 and his January 1961 inauguration.
