A Connecticut snowplow driver confessed to using cocaine before smashing his heavy-duty vehicle through one home’s stone walkway, another home’s porch and over a stone wall before plowing into a parked car in Fairfield.
The car was pushed through a garage door, where it slammed into another vehicle parked inside, according to News 12 Connecticut.
Driver Mark Keene’s 434-foot path of destruction reportedly ended with those two automobiles stacked on top of one another.
Photos and doorbell video illustrate what happened during the Dec. 28 frenzy that landed 46-year-old Keene behind bars.
A toxicology test showed Keene tested positive for cocaine, benzodiazepines and cannabinoids on his memorable first day of work, according to an arrest warrant viewed by News 12. He reportedly admitted to doing “bumps of cocaine” to law enforcement officers who administered Narcan after Keene began foaming at the mouth and turned blue.
The landscaping company that hired him said he was assigned to clear two driveways on Glen Ridge Road around 7 a.m., which he didn’t get done.
Keene reportedly told police he had an argument with his girlfriend on his way to work before putting three “bumps” of blow up his nose. Following the crash, he said he had no recollection of what had just happened, according to the warrant.
Fairfield police responding to the scene found Keene sitting in the truck, where they noticed his “slurred speech and pinpoint pupils.” Authorities said he was asked to get of the vehicle for a field sobriety test, but then suddenly collapsed in the snow.
Keene was reportedly put into an ambulance where he fought with medics and bit an officer’s arms and hands while being tied to a stretcher.
He was taken into custody on Jan. 8 and posted $15,000 bond, according to News 12. He’s been charged with reckless driving and operating under the influence.
Keene was initially scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his case was continued to Feb. 25.
