Two people are dead and an 86-year-old woman was clinging to life Thursday following a bloody murder-suicide attempt in the Bronx, police sources said.
The violence began just before 8 a.m. when a 55-year-old man pulled a gun and shot at a 59-year-old woman and an 86-year-old woman inside an apartment on Johnson Ave. near Kappock St. in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, cops said.
The man then turned the weapon on himself and pulled the trigger, shooting himself in the head, cops said.
Responding officers responding to the grisly scene found the man and 59-year-old woman dead from gunshot wounds to the head.
The elderly woman had been shot in the face, but was still alive.
EMS rushed the elderly woman to an area hospital, where she remained in critical condition Thursday.
The names of the victims were not immediately released. Everyone involved is believed to be related to each other, police sources said.
