How to watch HBO’s new Mel Brooks documentary: Release date, time



A new two-part documentary about prolific actor, comedian, and filmmaker Mel Brooks is coming to HBO.

“Mel Brooks: The 99 Year Old Man!” premieres tonight, Jan. 22 on HBO and HBO Max. The doc comes from directors Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio.

The doc chronicles the career of Brooks, 99, from his early days in television sketch comedy through his stage and screen works that include “The Producers,” “Spaceballs,” “Blazing Saddles,” and “Young Frankenstein.”

The doc boasts an A-list roster of contributors, including comedians Ben Stiller, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Nick Kroll, Patton Oswalt, Dave Chappelle, Conan O’Brien, Josh Gad, Jimmy Kimmel, Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman and Tracey Ullman; filmmakers Robert Townsend, Peter Farrelly, Jerry & David Zucker and Barry Levinson; actors Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, Cary Elwes, Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane; Brooks’ children Stefanie, Nicolas, Eddie and Max, and granddaughter Samantha.

It will also feature posthumous interviews with filmmakers David Lynch and Rob Reiner.

Aside from being the home for this new documentary, HBO Max currently has Brooks’ films “Spaceballs,” “Blazing Saddles,” “History of the World: Part 1” and “High Anxiety” among its vast streaming catalog.

The first episode of “Mel Brooks: The 99 Year Old Man!” comes out at 8 p.m. ET tonight, Jan. 22, on HBO. The episode will release at the same time on the HBO Max streaming service.
