A 44-year-old man was fatally shot in the chest, and a second man wounded, when a gunman opened fire at a Bronx intersection early Sunday, police said.
Keon Gill and a 35-year-old man were walking near W. 242nd St. and Broadway, just outside Van Cortlandt Park, when the killer approached them about 2:50 a.m., cops said.
A tussle ensued and the gunmen shot both men before running off, cops said.
Medics rushed Gill to St. Barnabas Hospital but he could not be saved. The younger man is recovering at the same hospital from a gunshot wound to the knee, cops said.
Gill lives in Middletown, N.Y. in Orange County, about 70 miles north of the city, according to cops.
The shooter has not been caught.
