Man shot, wounded by NYPD cops for lunging at them with knife in Queens: police



An emotionally disturbed man was shot and wounded by NYPD cops in Queens Monday morning after lunging at them with a knife, police sources said.

Officers from the 107th Precinct responding to a 911 call confronted the man holding a knife in the vestibule of a home on Parsons Blvd. near 84th Drive in Jamaica about 10:25 a.m., officials said.

When the man lunged at the officers, they fired, striking him numerous times in the body, police sources said. The man was rushed to Jamaica Hospital and is expected to survive.

The officers were taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center to be treated for ringing in the ears.
