Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed he goes to unusual lengths to avoid being caught napping by President Trump during overseas flights on Air Force One.
While the man who has many administration jobs says he needs rest, Trump never sleeps on the plane — and regularly prowls the cabin to see who’s awake, Rubio told New York Magazine.
“There’s an office with two couches,” Rubio told the outlet. “I cocoon myself in a blanket. I cover my head. I look like a mummy.”
The reason? He doesn’t want Trump to think his Secretary of State/National Security Advisor/USAID and NARA head is sleeping on the job(s.)
“I want him to think it’s a staffer who fell asleep,” Rubio said. I don’t want him to see his secretary of State sleeping on a couch and think, Oh, this guy is weak.”
