Fans tuning into the 2026 Grammys in hopes of seeing Taylor Swift will be left with a blank space on Sunday.
Rampant rumors about a potential Grammy Awards performance by the “Life of a Showgirl” singer prompted Executive Producer Ben Winston to shut them down.
When asked by music industry outlet HITS about the possibility of Swift taking the stage or attending the show, Winston was firm in his response.
“The only reason people think Taylor might be performing or coming is because HITS decided to print it this week and put it in their HITS List, and it was picked up globally,” he said. “But HITS just totally made that up.”
Winston also pointed out the irony of being asked by the very publication at the heart of the speculation, calling it “a full-circle rumor.”
“Now I am getting asked about it by you, as if it’s a real thing, when it was made up in your office!” he said.
The 14-time Grammy winner wasn’t up for nominations this year, since “The Life of a Showgirl” fell outside the eligibility window. It’s still unclear whether Swift plans to attend, though based on Winston’s response, it doesn’t seem likely.
Olivia Dean, Sabrina Carpenter, Leon Thomas, SOMBR and the Marías are among the artists set to take the stage during Sunday’s ceremony, airing live at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
