One dead as early-morning fire strikes Brooklyn apartment building


One person died after a fire broke out in a Brooklyn apartment building early Thursday morning, cops and firefighters said.

The unidentified victim’s lifeless body was found after the blaze ignited inside the Ocean Ave. building near Avenue W in Sheepshead Bay just before 2 a.m., police said.

A total of 79 firefighters and medics were called to battle the blaze, which was extinguished around 3:43 a.m., according to an FDNY spokesperson.

One resident was displaced as a result of the blaze, cops said.

A fire marshal will investigate the cause of the fire.
