A Long Island man was arrested in connection with a crash that killed two 19-year-old friends, authorities said Friday.
Frank Labidi, 23, of Farmingville, was driving a 2026 white BMW in Hicksville around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 23 when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed over into oncoming traffic, then struck a tree and then a building, the Nassau County Police Department said in a news release.
Two passengers in his car, Lindsey Parke and Alexa Duryea, suffered severe trauma and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Labidi was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment, police said.

On Friday, one week after the deadly crash, Labidi was arrested and charged with two counts of manslaughter and two counts of assault, officials said. He is expected to be arraigned in Nassau County Court later Friday.
Parke, a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Levittown Fire Department, is described in a GoFundMe page as the “most selfless and caring person anyone knew.”
In a different GoFundMe page set up on behalf of Duryea’s family, her cousin, Dorothy Neftleber-Jackson, said the teen would be “forever missed by her family, her siblings, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.”
Local media refer to the two young women as best friends.
