Cops search for man who slammed stranger with baseball bat at Bronx subway station

A man who mercilessly beat a stranger in the face with a baseball bat at a Bronx subway station is on the loose, and police on Sunday released photographs of the attacker, asking the public’s help in getting him off of the streets.

During the Jan. 29 evening rush hour, the suspect approached a 40-year-old man inside the Kingsbridge Road subway station on Grand Concourse near E. 196th St. in Bedford Park around 5:45 p.m., stricking the victim in the face with the bat several times, cops said.

Neither of the men knew each other, officials said.

The victim was injured in his left eye and suffered pain in the left side of his face, police said. Medics transported him to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.

The attacker, meanwhile, bolted from the scene and remains on the loose. Police described the man as having a a dark complexion, and said he was last seen wearing a black jacket, brown hooded sweatshirt, green pants and a black baseball cap.
