A New Jersey man has been charged in connection with a 2025 gunpoint robbery of an unnamed Jets player.
Noah Shaffer, 26, of Paterson, was charged with two counts each of first-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
Shaffer was charged Jan. 15 while in custody at the Bergen County jail after being charged for an unrelated crime.
A “thorough, extensive, and cooperative investigation” revealed electronic evidence showing Shaffer was involved, authorities said.
The football player and a group returned to Morristown from New York City in the the morning of Feb. 15, 2025. Around 8 a.m., a group of four masked suspects blocked their vehicle in the driveway and pointed guns before stealing a wallet, a watch and cash.
The suspects returned to their SUV and fled. Investigators said the vehicle had phony license plates.
Authorities said the victim was targeted and was followed by the suspects for more than 30 miles.
Three other suspects remain at large; the ainvestigation is ongoing.
The prosecutor’s office said it will not release the name of the football player who was victimized. It’s unclear if the player is still on the roster.
A number of NFL players’ homes were burglarized during the 2024 season, leading to multiple arrests. The Jets’ player’s robbery is not believed to be connected to those cases.
