Adam Sandler denies ‘insane’ story about daughter at Chanel store

A viral story about Adam Sandler’s daughter being “publicly humiliated” in a Chanel store has turned out to be deepfake news.

The comedian is shooting down social media videos claiming that a staffer at the luxury Beverly Hills boutique shunned his 19-year-old daughter, Sadie, for wearing “plain, casual clothes” and not appearing like a “real customer.”

“I’ve been hearing about this thing and I saw it, and it’s just insane,” Sandler told People magazine on Thursday at the 2026 Santa Barbara Film Festival. “It’s just this made-up, weird thing that people ask me about. And I’m just like, ‘I’ve never heard of this in my life.’ That story was 100% insane and made up, and not a word of it is true.”

Earlier this week, AI-generated clips of Sandler were widely circulated on social media. In them, the comedian appears to be on a late-night talk show, explaining that a Chanel employee “scanned” his daughter “with pure disdain,” then bluntly told her she wasn’t allowed the touch the pricy handbags she was eyeing.

“The second I got her message, I rushed over, I looked that associate straight in the face and I asked if she was judging people by how they looked,” a deepfake voice says in the clip. “I walked right up to her and said it clearly: Real class isn’t on a price tag, it’s in how you treat people.”

Other videos have since popped up applauding the “Happy Gilmore” star for claims that after he showed up to the store, he purchased $312,000 worth of bags to “defend his daughter’s dignity” and teach the employee a lesson.

Sandler told USA Today that after the videos went viral, a friend even texted him to ask if the Chanel story was real.

“I said, ‘What are you talking about? It’s 100% nonsense,’” Sandler told the outlet. “I don’t know how that (expletive) happens.”

No stranger to wild internet claims, the “Saturday Night Live” alum told People he also heard a story about him “going to an In-N-Out Burger at midnight and getting a bunch of Double-Doubles.”

“I have to say, that story is true,” he said. “The other one’s pathetic.”

Sandler shares daughters Sadie and Sunny, 17, with his wife Jackie, an actress and former model. The couple have been married since 2003.
