Green Day slams ICE, Trump and Epstein in pre-Super Bowl show

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong didn’t mince words during a show the band played less than 48 hours before they’re slated to perform at Super Bowl LX.

While playing a Friday night concert in San Francisco, the famously political frontman urged ICE agents to walk off the job, slammed the Trump administration and even changed the lyrics of one of their songs to reference Jeffrey Epstein.

“Quit that sh—y job you have, because when this is over — and it will be over at some point in time — Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller, JD Vance, Donald Trump — they’re gonna drop you like a bad f–king habit,” he said in a video clip being shared online.

At another point in the show, which took place a week after the Justice Department released millions more files related to its investigation into Epstein, Armstrong referred to the convicted sex offender by altering the lyrics to Green Day’s hit song “Holiday.”

Instead of saying “the representative from California has the floor,” Armstrong replaced the words with “the representative from Epstein’s Island has the floor.”

The anthem, from their 2004 album “American Idiot,” was written to be a punk rock protest criticizing the U.S. government and the apathy of the U.S. public.

No stranger to bringing politics to the stage, Armstrong previously came under fire in July 2024 when he took the stage in Washington, D.C. and held up a mask of Trump with the word “IDIOT” written across its forehead.

Online reaction was swift, with some blasting the singer for holding up “a severed Trump head” just two weeks after a gunman tried to assassination Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania.

Fans are on the edge of their seats to see if Green Day will once again speak out against the president when they play a set at 6 p.m. ET leading into Sunday’s showdown between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots.

The “Time of Your Life” hitmakers expressed excitement about booking the gig when the show was announced last month.

“Let’s have fun! Let’s get loud!” Armstrong said in a statement.

Later on Sunday, Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny will headline the Super Bowl’s iconic halftime show, despite outrage from President Trump. It’s not known if other artists will join him onstage.

Kid Rock leads a lineup of country musicians offering an alternative halftime show being sponsored by right-wing organization Turning Point USA. The event, titled the “All-American Halftime Show,” has been promoted as a celebration of “faith, family and freedom.”
