Long Island man fatally stabs wife; wounds teen and himself: cops

A Long Island man fatally stabbed his estranged wife before wounding a teenager and repeatedly stabbing himself, police said.

The grisly violence unfolded Thursday night, inside a house on Granny Road in Farmingville, according to a press release from the Suffolk County Police Department. Authorities responded to the residence around 8 p.m. to investigate reports of an alleged domestic violence incident there.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found 46-year-old Adriana Barbosa and Marcos Marques-Leal, 57, each of them suffering from multiple stab wounds. A teenage relative also inside the home suffered non-life-threatening stab wounds in the attack, police said.

They were all three rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital, where Barbosa was pronounced dead shortly after the attack.

The teen’s name was not released and their exact condition was not provided.

Police said Marquel-Leal also suffered serious injuries during the incident, but he is expected to survive. He is facing charges including second-degree murder, first-degree criminal contempt, and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Authorities did not provide further details in the case. What may have caused the deadly violence remains unclear and an investigation into the matter is ongoing.
