‘It’s not a good time’

A New Jersey man is accused of repeatedly stabbing a woman, then telling a concerned neighbor that it’s “not a good time” when they went to check on her, officials said.

Officers in West Deptford were called to the scene on Friday morning after an unidentified person showed up at the home to ask about the woman who lives there, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

When the witness discovered the front door was locked, they went around the back and spotted 61-year-old Randall Bilger, covered in blood and wielding a knife.

“It’s not a good time,” he told them, the witness described to police.

Authorities arrived shortly thereafter, but Bilger ignored repeated orders to exit the home, prompting them to force entry.

Once inside, officers encountered a woman who told them Bilger stabbed her hours earlier in the shoulder and again in the abdomen shortly before the neighbor came to the door, prosecutor’s said.

The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Her condition was unclear as of Saturday evening.

Bilger, meanwhile, was arrested on the scene and charged with first-degree attempted murder and third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, authorities said.

He was expected to make his first court appearance on Saturday. If convicted on both charges, Bilger could face up to 25 years in prison.

An investigation into the stabbing is ongoing.
