Tyreek Hill’s time in Miami has come to an end.
The Miami Dolphins are releasing the star wide receiver, according to ESPN, which will send Hill to free agency for the first time in his career.
Hill is recovering from the gruesome dislocated knee and torn ACL that he suffered in Week 4 against the Jets, which ended his season.
Releasing Hill saves the Dolphins $22.8 million against the salary cap in 2026.
Known for his blazing speed, Hill is an eight-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro through 10 NFL seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and Dolphins. His 11,363 career receiving yards rank seventh among active players, while his 83 receiving touchdowns rank fourth.
But Hill turns 32 next month, and after his serious injury, he acknowledged the uncertainty around his future.
“I feel like that decision is based upon how I feel and where my mindset is at the moment,” Hill said in October on former teammate Terron Armstead’s “The Set” podcast.
“I’m happy with the career that I’ve had. I love playing football. I love it, man, but it takes a lot. … It takes a lot on you mentally. It takes a lot on you physically. I’m at the point now where I need to have a conversation with [my] mom, family, everybody.”
Last week, Hill told People magazine that he recently resumed walking without a brace.
“I’m feeling good,” said Hill, who spent the past four seasons with Miami.
Miami is also releasing standout pass rusher Bradley Chubb, a two-time Pro Bowler who recorded 8.5 sacks in 17 games last season, and guard James Daniels.
The Dolphins are in a state of turnover after a 7-10 season in which they finished third in the AFC East, ahead of only the Jets.
Miami benched quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for the final three games of the regular season, and the veteran is now the subject of trade rumors. Tagovailoa — who threw 15 interceptions in 14 games last year — is guaranteed $54 million in 2026, and the Dolphins do not have a clear replacement on the roster.
The Dolphins fired general manager Chris Grier in October, then replaced him with Jon-Eric Sullivan last month. They fired head coach Mike McDaniel after the season and have since hired Jeff Hafley.
Hill — who was entering the final season of a three-year, $90 million contract — joins a free agent class that is expected to include wide receivers Alec Pierce, Mike Evans, Romeo Doubs and Wan’Dale Robinson.
George Pickens, who would be the top wide receiver on the market, is considered likely to receive the franchise tag from the Dallas Cowboys.
