Caleb Flynn, who auditioned for “American Idol” in 2013, has been arrested and is accused of killing his wife.
Authorities in Ohio say Flynn shot his 37-year-old wife, Ashley, with a 9mm semiautomatic handgun and then tried to stage the scene in an effort to mislead investigators.
In the 911 call that was later released, Flynn is heard frantically telling a dispatcher that someone had broken into their Tipp City home, located an estimated 16 miles north of Dayton, and shot his wife, saying there was blood everywhere and that she had been shot in the head.
“Oh my god, somebody broke into my home, somebody broke into my home and shot my wife,” Flynn said according to 911 audio obtained by TMZ. “My wife, she’s got two shots to her head, there’s blood everywhere. Oh my god, oh my god, oh my God,” he screamed.
“Ashley, Ashley, baby, baby please, oh my god, there’s no — she’s not breathing,” Flynn said on the call.
Flynn also told dispatchers the garage door was wide open and that this all happened while their two daughters were asleep inside the home.
According to official records, Flynn was taken into custody on Thursday and booked into the Miami County Jail on charges of murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence.
On Friday, the 39-year-old pleaded not guilty during a video arraignment and requested to be released. His bond is set at $2 million.
“I just want to take care of my daughters,” he told Judge Samuel Huffman. “I’m not a risk.”
Flynn tried out for “American Idol Season 12” back in 2013 but didn’t make it past the auditions. During Flynn’s on camera interviews, he spoke about his passion for music and his love for his wife.
