Boy, 4, fatally struck outside Brooklyn hospital by SUV driver who left scene


A 4-year-old boy was fatally struck running in the street outside a Brooklyn hospital Thursday by an SUV driver who failed to remain at the scene, police said.

The child was hit by the driver of Ford SUV on Rockaway Parkway near Linden Blvd. in East Flatbush about 11:10 a.m., cops said. The driver kept going and has not been caught.

Panicked witnesses picked up the child and rushed him into Brookdale University Hospital, where he died. The boy was struck right outside the hospital.

Witnesses told police that child was running in the street east on the parkway toward Church Ave. when he was hit.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the driver realized somebody was struck, officials said.

Cops were scouring the area for surveillance footage so they could track the SUV’s path.
