Possible human remains found in Queens wildlife refuge

Possible human remains have been found at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, police said Friday.

Officers responded to the scene after getting a 911 call at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The remains were found not far off Cross Bay Boulevard, along the section of the roadway that connects Howard Beach and Broad Channel.

Police said the remains had been cordoned off, with any further investigation delayed because of the rainy weather.

On Friday morning, police said more remains were found nearby.

Investigators believe the remains are of one person but that the medical examiner will make the final determination.

It wasn’t clear how long the remains have been there.
