Steve Kerr trolls $5K Donald Trump check with blue wave midterm comment

Democrats received resounding wins during the U.S. midterm races on Tuesday, including taking control of Congress.

Many prominent members of the party are taking victory laps on Wednesday as a result of what is being called a “blue wave” or a “Bluenami.”

Few members in the basketball community have been as outspoken about their political views — specifically when it comes to Donald Trump — as Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.

Kerr seemed upset that the media didn’t provide him an opportunity to talk about the midterm results when speaking on Wednesday, as he ended his media availability session by saying, “What, no questions on the election? I’m surprised.

“I’m disappointed, because I was looking forward to that $5,000 check that we were all gonna get,” Kerr added, per the California Post’s Evan Webeck.

“I already spent it, in fact. And I was so excited and sure about it that I spent it already. So now I’m gonna have to figure something out,” he continued.

Kerr is alluding to the $5,000 check that Trump claimed he would give to every American adult if Republicans retained control of the House and Senate, which did not come to fruition.

Kerr probably would have had some colorful things to say if the midterm had gone in the other direction.

But he seems to be all smiles and jokes on Wednesday.
