Hunter Biden’s ex-girlfriend and mother of his 6-year-old daughter revealed Monday that she supports President Biden’s controversial decision to pardon his son.
“I think what Joe did is what the love of any parent would do and not everybody will understand that,” Lunden Roberts said in a statement released by her publisher, Skyhorse, and obtained by the Daily Mail.
Roberts, 33, echoed the president’s belief that Hunter, 54, was “targeted because of who his dad is.”
“Many people have done what he’s done and have never gotten in trouble,” the former pole dancer said of the federal gun and tax crimes Hunter was slated to be sentenced for before the Dec.1 pardon.
“But because his dad is president, he’s being held to a different set of circumstances,” Roberts added.
“I don’t know what it’s like to be president so I can’t say what choices I would make if I was in Biden’s shoes, but I am a mother,” she continued, declaring, “There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for my child. No barrier I wouldn’t break for Navy Joan.”
Hunter and Roberts were embroiled in a bitter child support dispute last year centered on Navy Joan, which ended after Roberts agreed to reduce monthly payments in exchange for the first son building a relationship with his daughter – which he has been doing on Zoom, according to Roberts.
Roberts noted that she would like the “love” the president expressed toward his son showered on Navy Joan as well.
“I’d like to see more of that love towards Navy Joan and hope that Biden will take the steps to become a grandparent for my daughter,” she said.
Biden, 82, publicly acknowledged his seventh grandchild, Navy Joan, for the first time last year, but has never met the young girl.
Hunter and Roberts met in 2017 while the first son was in the throes of crack cocaine addiction.
He denied being the father of Navy Joan until a 2020 paternity test settled the matter.
