The Jets fans clamoring for the team to tank for Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders crowd did not have a good afternoon on Sunday.
Not only did the Jets (4-10) end their four-game losing streak by defeating the Jaguars 32-25, but they also dropped in the 2025 NFL Draft order.
With three games remaining, here’s where the Jets currently stand.
Where are the Jets currently projected to select in 2025 NFL Draft?
The Jets would select eighth in the 2025 NFL Draft if the season ended today, according to Tankathon. That’s one spot lower than last week when the Jets lost to the Dolphins in overtime.
The Jets are among eight teams with at least 10 losses this season, and three games remain for more teams to join them. Right now, five teams (Patriots, Browns, Jaguars, Titans, and Panthers) have a 3-11 record.
What does that mean?
Jets fans who hope the team will draft either Ward or Sanders are likely out of luck. Currently, the Raiders (2-10) and Giants (2-11) hold the top two picks in the draft, and both desperately need quarterback help.
For the Jets to have any shot at drafting either Ward or Sanders, they would need to lose their remaining three games and have the Raiders and Giants both win a couple of games to end the season. The Giants are at the Falcons, host the Colts, and at the Eagles to end the season. The Raiders have a Monday night game against the Falcons, and the Jaguars, Saints, and Chargers remain on their schedule.
Draft needs outside of quarterback
Assuming the Jets can’t select one of the top two quarterbacks in the draft, there are many different positions the team could go in Round 1 next April. Among them is help at right tackle and on the defensive line.
Morgan Moses, who will turn 34 in March, will be a free agent after this season. The Jets could opt to re-sign Moses while trying to find a long-term solution at right tackle.
The Jets also could use pass rush and defensive tackle help. Haason Reddick, who will be an upcoming free agent, has been a disappointment after ending his holdout. Depending on the defensive scheme, the Jets need a run stuffer up the middle to help Quinnen Williams.
Unless something drastically changes, it will be difficult for the Jets to move inside the top three picks.
