Where to buy tickets, best prices

In just a few days, the ball will drop in Times Square.

For some Phans though, the real New York New Year’s entertainment will be going down about ten blocks south at Madison Square Garden.

From Dec. 28-31, Phish will return to the Knicks and Rangers’ home for four huge concerts — their 84th, 85th, 86th and 87th at the legendary venue. Other than Billy Joel, Trey Anastasio‘s jam band has performed at MSG more than any other artist.

Best of all, each gig is completely unique making all four essential for hardcore Super-Phans.

“It’s not like anything you’ve ever seen because it’s never happened before,” NY-based comedian and proud Phan Max Fine told the New York Post. “Every show is special and unique because they don’t plan for it. You get to be whoever you want at a Phish show.”

“Most songs are jams, especially in the second set,” he continued. “There are two types of jams. A type one jam is where the band kind of stays within the parameters of the song they’re currently playing. These are cool, but you kind of know where you’re at.”

“A type two jam takes the song to a whole different place,” Fine adde. “Over the summer, they closed the second set of the first night with an almost 16 minute ‘Split Open and Melt’ and I probably forgot what we were listening to eight minutes in. Hell, I probably forgot I was in the building. Incredible.”

As of now, last-minute tickets are available for the quartet of NYE shows.

Four-day passes can be found for as low as $504 before fees on Vivid Seats.

If you’d prefer to only attend one night — although you’d be missing out on the full Phish experience by doing so — the lowest price we could find for a single show was $88 before fees.

Can’t make it? No sweat. Early in 2025, Trey Anastasio is embarking on a solo tour which includes stops in Rochester on March 12 and Red Bank, NJ on April 5.

Phish set list

Part of the fun of seeing Phish live is the surprises the band has in store for fans.

Still, it can’t hurt to take a peek at what has made the cut recently.

For a closer look, here’s the complete history of what Phish has played live — dating back to 1983 — check out Set List FM.

Phish new music

On July 12, Phish dropped their 16th studio album “Evolve.”

Over 12 tracks, as expected, the jam band completely surprises. No two songs are alike here; their only connection is the cosmically in-sync ensemble.

Personally, we were most taken with the slinky, bass-y, mysterious “Hey Stranger,” upbeat toe-tapper “A Wave Of Hope” and slow burn of “Monsters.”

Be sure to try the restrained Beatles-esque “Valdese,” too. It’s impossible not to crack a smile while listening.

Want to check out the brand spanking new record right now? You can find “Evolve” here.

Huge jam bands on tour in 2024-25

While Phish might be the most iconic unpredictable rock and roll act arond, many other artists who promise “no two set lists are the same” will be on the road this year and next.

Here are just five of our favorites you won’t want to miss live in the near future.

• Dead and Company

• Goose

• String Cheese Incident

• moe.

• Widespread Panic
