Alec Baldwin and his wife, Chynna Phillips, are no longer living separately.
Phillips, 56, is now backtracking after revealing she and Baldwin, 66, live in separate homes and cities because they have an “allergy” to one another.
The singer of Wilson Phillips set the record straight on a video published to her YouTube channel on December 29.
“Billy called me earlier and he was like, ‘I just read another article about how you want to be married living apart,’” she said in the clip. “I just want to clarify, at that time, I felt like I needed a little bit of space and really felt like that would be the most logical answer.”
She continued, ”I am retracting that comment and I am now saying that is probably a very foolish, very unwise, very destructive, stupid decision, because that’s not going to solve our problem with the allergy.”
Phillips joked that while they still have “a little bit of an allergy,” they are “taking really good allergy medication.”
“That allergy medication is communication, being kind and gentle, being more tolerant and really seeking out ways to be kind and supportive and more playful,” she shared.
The singer also stated that she needs “more playfulness in my life,”adding that’s something her husband “struggles with.”
“Yes, I wish we could just giggle and be a little less serious together, but that’s just not his temperament as much,” Phillips said of Baldwin. “He’s getting better. He is literally laughing more, playing more and finding the humor in things.”
She added, “He’s been an awesome roommate these past few weeks. I don’t know, there’s been a shift. Maybe it’s me, maybe it’s him, maybe it’s God — maybe it’s a little bit of everything. But, I feel like we’re in a way, way better place. I’m so grateful.”
In November, Phillips opened up about their unconventional living situation.
At the time, Phillips shared that not only do they shack up in separate houses, but they stay in different area codes.
“Billy and I are sort of in this new kind of arrangement that is actually really working for me. I don’t know if it’s working for Billster, but I’m really happy with what we’re doing,” Phillips joked. “Basically, it’s totally unstructured … let me explain.”
She continued, “I said to Billy, ‘Look, why don’t we just do a little test run to see what it feels like to have me in Santa Barbara, you in Beverly Hills, and then we flip-flop. Then in between, we have date nights together, we have therapy, we have dinner with the children and we go to the beach or the museum.”
For reference, those destinations are roughly 100 miles apart.
Before the new year, Phillips shared another video while in the car with Baldwin, in which she revealed they were headed to therapy.
“So we do have therapy today,” she said. “One thing I would like to cover is, you know, obviously there’s been this unspoken energy between us. What would you call it?”
With a smirk, Billy responded, “I would call it roommates, basically. I would call it coexisting.”
The pair married in 1995 and will celebrate their 30-year wedding anniversary in September. Phillips and Baldwin share three children: daughters Jameson, 24, and Brooke, 19, and son Vance, 22.
