Brody Jenner is not hiding his true feelings about Caitlyn Jenner.
“The Hills” alum, 41, opened up about his famous parent on Wednesday night’s episode of “Special Forces: Word’s Toughest Test,” looking back on when Caitlyn, 73, came out and transitioned into a woman in 2015.
“I will say he was going through his own struggles transitioning,” Brody said about Caitlyn (formerly Bruce Jenner).
“All that was put on TV and there were these very intimate moments we would have and it was all filmed and it just felt very invasive and not very genuine, I would say,” Brody added.
Caitlyn came out as transgender in a 2015 interview with Diane Sawyer. The Olympian’s post-gender transition journey was later documented on the E! series “I Am Cait.”
Brody is Caitlyn and Linda Thompson’s son. The former couple, who got divorced in 1986, also share Brandon Jenner, 43.
When Brody was 7 years old, Caitlyn got married to Kris Jenner, becoming a stepfather to Kris and Robert Kardashian’s four children: Kourtney, Kim, Khloé and Rob. Caitlyn and Kris, 69, later welcomed daughters Kylie and Kendall.
On “Special Forces,” Brody said that Caitlyn “wasn’t around much” when he was growing up.
“I’d randomly see him — him at the time — here and there,” Brody shared. “Mom would tell me that I would write on cards, ‘Why doesn’t dad call me on my birthday?’ and things that I don’t even really remember.”
During a meeting with instructors, Brody admitted that he felt “a little bit abandoned” when Caitlyn married Kris and embraced her children.
However, the “Princes of Malibu” star did say that his parent “recently” gave him “a real, sincere apology.”
“It was the first time in my life that I had gotten an apology. ‘I’m sorry for not being there.’ And honestly, it meant a lot,” said Brody.
In a confessional during the episode, Brody vowed that after his drama with Caitlyn, he’s dedicated to being the best father possible to his daughter Honey Raye, 1, whom he shares with fiancée Tia Blanco.
“I think not having Bruce around growing up and her doing that transition… it was tough just being her son. I just had a beautiful little daughter. I’m not living for myself anymore,” Brody said. “I’m living for her. Everything that I’m doing on this course is going to make me a better person.”
In 2023, Brody dissed Caitlyn when he said that he’d parent his daughter the “exact opposite” way the athlete raised him.
“I think that what I’m most excited about is doing things differently than my father did,” Brody said in a YouTube video at the time. “Growing up I didn’t have the greatest relationship with [Caitlyn].”
However, Brody still showed up to Caitlyn’s 75th birthday party in Oct. 2024. He posed in a group selfie alongside former stepsister Kim Kardashian and other relatives.
