Where to buy tickets, schedule

Punxsutawney Phil isn’t the only “Groundhog Day” star rearing their head this winter.

On Jan. 29, Bill Murray will resume his recently-extended 2025 tour with his bluesy backing band The Blood Brothers led by Mike Zito and Albert Castiglia.

Along the way, the deadpan 74-year-old comic actor will make a pair of New York stops.

First up, Murray and co. are slated to swing into Port Chester’s Capitol Theatre on Friday, Feb. 14. The following night, he’ll headline New York City’s Sony Hall.

Then, on Feb. 16, he’ll likely take part in “Saturday Night Live’s” 50th season celebration.

For those curious about what exactly a live Bill Murray show looks like, a bit of research revealed to us that he puts raucous spins on timeless classic rock favorites from yesteryear like Bob Dylan’s “Like A Rolling Stone,” Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World” The Rolling Stones’ “Gimme Shelter” all while delivering his trademark smirking banter.

As of now, tickets are available for all 13 upcoming shows including his pair of gigs at San Francisco’s Sketchfest on Jan. 29-30.

Other notable acts joining him at the multi-week NorCal comedy fest include legends like Albert Brooks, Tim Curry and Ana Gasteyer.

Bill Murray upcoming projects

As of now, the workhorse actor has six projects set for release in the near future. To make sure you’re up to speed, here’s what’s up next for Murray, courtesy of IMDb.

“The Ploughmen” tells the story of a strange friendship between a haunted young deputy sheriff and a notorious old murderer that turns both their worlds upside down. Nick Nolte and Amy Madigan co-star.

“Being Mortal” may never be finished; Murray was accused of harassment on set. In any event, the film is comedian Aziz Ansari’s feature directorial debut and based on the book “Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters In The End.” Seth Rogen and Keke Palmer were also in the cast.

“The Springs” is a comedy about a retired detective (Murray) who turns his sleuthing skills to a retirement home after his brother is found dead there.

“The Phoenician Scheme” will be the latest Wes Anderson feature. This dark tale of espionage follows a strained father-daughter relationship within a family business. Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benicio Del Toro and Michael Cera round out the impressive ensemble.

‘Riff Raff” has already done the festival rounds and should hit theaters or streaming in early 2025. The picture takes a look at a former criminal’s ordinary life, which is turned upside down when his old family shows up for a long-awaited reunion. Jennifer Coolidge, Ed Harris, Gabrielle Union and Pete Davidson also appear.

“The Friend” follows a writer who adopts a Great Dane that belonged to a late friend and mentor. Naomi Watts, Constance Wu, Ann Dowd and Carla Gugino are the other major names to look out for here.

Bill Murray controversy

Murray, who became famous for his fun-loving demeanor and party crashing in the 2010s, allegedly went too far on the set of Ansari’s unreleased film “Being Mortal” and “kissed and straddled a younger female production staffer on set” according to Puck.

Entertainment Weekly said “the woman, who was ‘horrified’ at the incident, reportedly filed a complaint.”

Soon after, Murray called the interaction a “miscommunication” and paid the victim “just north of $100,000” in a settlement, Puck reported.

“I did something I thought was funny, and it wasn’t taken that way,” Murray told CNBC. “The company, the movie studio, wanted to do the right thing, so they wanted to check it all out, investigate it, and so they stopped the production.”

“But as of now, we’re talking and we’re trying to make peace with each other… We’re both professionals. We like each other’s work… and if you can’t really get along and trust each other, there’s no point in going further working together or making a movie as well.”

In the past, Geena Davis and Lucy Liu complained about working with the comic actor on set as well.

Ironically, in 2018, Murray said “if people are monstrous, it eventually comes back” in an interview on “Squawk Box.” “We get justice, but we don’t get it when we want it. …This is unusual. People are getting their justice rather quickly.”
