New York’ star Lynn Ban detailed scary brain bleed before death



Lynn Ban shared harrowing details about the brain bleed she suffered from a skiing accident just weeks before she died.

The “Bling Empire: New York” star passed away Monday at the age of 52. Sources confirmed to the Post that Ban’s husband discovered her in bed at a Tribeca home.

An NYPD spokesperson confirmed a 52-year-old woman was found unconscious and unresponsive near Warren Street and West Street, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. They did not confirm an identity.

Ban’s teenage son, Sebastian, confirmed that she died in a heartbreaking Instagram post on Wednesday.

On Dec. 30, 2024, Ban revealed she had to undergo brain surgery after sustaining a traumatic head wound while skiing in Aspen on Christmas Eve.

“And In a blink of an eye … life can change,” the jewelry designer wrote on Instagram alongside a series of photos showing her in the hospital.

“Christmas Eve on a beautiful sunny day in Aspen on vacation with my family, I had a ski accident that would change my life,” she continued, sharing that she “caught a tip” of one of her skis “at the top of the mountain” and “face planted.”

The star added, “Luckily I always wear a helmet.”

Ban said that the accident “didn’t seem that bad at the time and I was able to ski to the bottom.”

But “erring on the side of caution” she decided “to get checked out by ski patrol for a concussion.”

“They assessed me and I was cleared,” Ban wrote. “I had a bit of a headache but thought after lunch it would be fine and I could ski again.”

However, the paramedic suggested she “go to the hospital for a cat scan,” she continued.

“This saved my life,” the star said.

“I went in a taxi with [my husband] Jett [Kain] and within 30 minutes they told us I had a brain bleed and needed to be airlifted to the trauma hospital[.] Last thing I remember was being intubated and waking up after an emergency craniotomy with Jett by my side.”

“There’s a long road of recovery ahead but I’m a survivor,” she went on, adding that she was “grateful to ski patrol the incredible team of doctors and nurses and the ❤️and support my family and friends.”

She concluded the post, “GOD IS GOOD 🙏🏼 Grateful and blessed to see the new year.”

The photos Ban shared on Instagram included snaps of her enjoying time on the mountain before the accident along with photos of her half-shaved head post-surgery, her surgery scar on her skull, and her intubated in a hospital bead.

Born in Singapore, Ban was a prominent NYC jewelry designer whose designs have been worn by celebrities such as Rihanna, Beyoncé and Billy Porter.

She joined Netflix’s “Bling Empire: New York” when it debuted in 2023. A spinoff of the original LA-set “Bling Empire,” the series followed the lavish and luxurious lives of a group of wealthy Asian-Americans living in New York.

Ban is survived by her husband and son.

Sebastian posted a tribute to his mom on social media.

“She was and always will be my best friend, the best mother to me, and someone who cared for all,” Sebastian wrote on Wednesday. “She always had a smile on her face even when times were tough during her recovery process. She was a fighter until the end and is the strongest woman I know. She was the funniest and coolest mum I could ever ask for. She took care of me, my dad, and our Entire family throughout her whole life.”

“Although she may be gone now, I will do everything I can to make sure she is never forgotten and for her life to be celebrated as it deserves to be,” he continued. “As a final message to my mum, I would just like to say that I will miss you forever and to end in something she always told me ‘I love you more than life itself’ mum.”
