Cops hunting for man who beat cat with a wooden stool on Manhattan street

Police released images and video on Friday of a man who is wanted for bashing a cat with a stool on an East Village street, in a cowardly caught-on-video attack.

The suspect struck the furry feline with a wooden stool shortly after midnight on Dec. 4 around E. Ninth St. and Avenue D in Alphabet City so hard that it broke the animal’s jaw and fractured vertebrae in its neck and back, police said.

After hitting the cat, which appears to be a tabby in video released by police, the man fled the area to parts unknown.

The cat was taken to Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition, where it is in stable condition, according to police.

Cops said the animal was a stray.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
