Trump says he and Putin agreed to start negotiations to end Ukraine war

President Trump revealed Wednesday that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to start talks “immediately” to end Moscow’s war on Ukraine.

“I just had a lengthy and highly productive phone call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia. We discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, Energy, Artificial Intelligence, the power of the Dollar, and various other subjects,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The president told The Post over the weekend he had been having discussions with Putin, but had not revealed the topics of conversation.

Trump said he would call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to “inform him of the conversation” with Putin.

Wednesday’s conversation took place after Trump negotiated a prisoner exchange with Russia to release American teacher Marc Fogel in exchange for Russian crypto site leader Alexander Vinnik, who pleaded guilty last year to federal charges of money laundering conspiracy.
